Test computer speeds – Find out how fast your computer is

Many people often ask me how to check the speed of my computer. There are many reasons for this, maybe they have a brand new computer and want to make sure the computer is as fast as they were pre sold.

Or, maybe they simply want to know for reference.

A lot of software, such as the software for your graphic card, actually runs a test on your whole computer giving you feedback on the full specifications of your computer. For a new user this can be a little confusing. If you are simply just after the speed of your computer, then look in your system properties.

The best way to do the above is by right clicking on my computer, and then left clicking properties. On most window-operated computers, at the bottom it will show you your computer speed in MHz.

Another quick way of finding out the speed of your computer is to watch closely when the computer boots up. It will go through a process showing your computer memory, processor type, and the speed of your processor in Mhz. This normally happens in a very short time, so you have to watch closely to note the speed of your home computer.

On some computers, you can press the pause/break key, this will pause the page and give you a better view. This does not work on all computers however.
