Measuring the processing speed

As we know, there is no comparison of computer’s speed with other human inventions, that’s why the computer is preferred as the most powerful and speediest machine of today’s world.

If you are going to execute a program on an old machine then it will give you the result after executing your program in milliseconds.

Most of the computers execute the programs in microseconds and nanosecond. But today the computer is executing the result in Pico second.

The method of expressing the result of a microprocessor speed is in Megahertz in short we can say MHz. Today we are working well above 1000 MHz, so we can say Gigahertz.

If a computer has a processor of 900MHz, then there is no doubt that it has the power of handling 900 millions of machine cycles per second. We can measure the speed of the computer in millions of instructions per second also, which is MIPS in short.

Another one is, million floating-point operations per second, in short it is megaflop. It is used to measure the complex mathematical operations by a computer. These were some methods of measuring the processer speed of the computer.
