Printer advice

Looking for a printer?

You may even be after some printer advice for a later date, or for your general knowledge, whatever your situation is, the good news is that choosing and buying a printer is a lot less complicated then buying a computer.

Why you may ask?

It seems that most people I talk to regarding computers, share the same dilemmas; will my computer be up to specifications in a few years? The answer is an obviously no, due to the rapid increase in technology. This can be a burden, as software released in a few years may not even work on your computer you buy today.

The above may seem a little bit of an exaggeration, yes this may be the case, however, try using a computer from 6 years ago today, running all the latest software for your movie, gaming, and music needs and you will see where I am coming from.

I have an old pc networked to my main pc in my office, this old pc is from 1994 so we are looking at 10 years ago and I cant run any of my software on it. This shows why buying a computer is more complicated, as you need to look ahead at all times.

So what has this got to do with printers you may be thinking, well printers are also advancing rapidly and new printers are constantly being released to meet newer standards, however, this does not make your inkjet or LaserJet printer obsolete. Far from it infact. I have a Canon printer from 1990 running better in terms of speed and quality than an expensive inkjet printer I purchased around a year ago. You can draw your own conclusions. A printer that works well now should work well in a good few years also.

There will probably come a time when you want to replace your home or office printer to keep up with current technology, when that time comes, browse our printer advice sections such as this one, for honest advice based on my years of experience working with computers and printers for home users.
