In today’s world, it’s sometimes difficult to draw a line between photo printer, business printer, portable printer, etc. Manufacturers have blurred the line by adding features to almost all of their printers that make them fit for various uses. The two printers featured here could fit into other categories, but they’re here because they’re small. Canon i80 Portable Photo Printer When you pull this printer out of the box, you might not be able to guess it is a printer at all. It’s only 12.4” x 6.9” x 2.0” thick. It’s not just a photo printer though, it can handle a full 8.5” x 11” sheet of paper. And yes, it comes with a battery pack so you can print off your laptop, even if there’s no outlet in site (an additional battery is about $100). There is an option for Bluetooth, but it comes stock with IrDA. Only drawback I could see was B & W text was a bit jagged, since this printer is optimized for photo output. It would be a handy machine to carry in your laptop case though. I found one for $178 with a rebate, but I also saw it for $220 with free shipping. Like the Canon, it’s text only output is not nearly as impressive as it’s photo output. It is a little pricy at an average of $350 for the Bluetooth® version and a fast charge, lithium-ion rechargeable battery. I will say it’s also a bit slower then most inkjets, but has generous size ink tanks and will work on the PC or Mac.
