Oj printer review

HP OfficeJet 6110

At $150-300 (refurbished and new) this is definitely your higher end of the all-in-one printers. It is, however, a true all-in-one. It’s built to work like a copier, so it should have it’s own stand, as opposed to setting it on your desk. It’s also one of the larger home/office printers. It has it’s own fax modem and the scanning element warms up very quickly. It is the fastest printing in color and b&w, of the other printers I’ve reviewed. If you are in a home-office environment, I would recommend this printer in a heart beat, after all, it’s what I use.

Why to buy

This is not the cheapest of the all-in-one printers, but it’s my choice because of the durability of HP printers. Historically, if your HP breaks, you or a repair facility can get parts easily. In the past couple of years there have been two major issues with HP OfficeJets. The print head expiration scenario on the D135 line (which doesn’t apply to this model) was one problem, and a small installation problem. The uninstall program on earlier OfficeJets did not completely remove the drivers so if you had a problem and had to un-install, there was a tricky work around to get the drivers removed. They have fixed that problem and made an easy remove utility that removes all registry entries. Incidentally, the installation of this printer went very smoothly, with no glitches.

The bad with the good

I have experienced one problem with this printer. When I reboot my machine, it goes into a light-flickering wacko state which means I have to turn the printer off and then on again. I have also noticed that after a power failure, the printer might not come up and you have to actually disconnect the power supply from the outlet and reconnect it. I don’t know if this is a printer problem, or the way the power supply works, but thought I’d note it in any case.
