Guide to modems

Modems have somewhat changed over the past few years. You will probably know that more people are switching to faster Internet access now. This is where the new modem devices come in to play.

Cable and ADSL devices offer connections to the Internet, which greatly increase speed. You can download at up to 30 times as fast with the new 2 MB cable. Do you need this type of speed? The answer to that is personal preference.

In all honesty I can easily to do my work and view web pages on a 56k connection using a dial up service. If you like to download and play games then broadband is for you. It is another luxury what can be worth having if you will benefit from the extra speed.

I remember back when most people were happy with 32k devices. Its amazing how fast technology is changing across the world. Everyone who has a computer needs a modem. They are simply a necessity, as with out one you will have no connection to the Internet. If you want to get the most from your computer and keep up to date then the Internet is a must. The modem gives you the connection to a glorified library, which has changed the world, as we know it.

What modem shall I get then?

If you want fast flowing Internet access, which is on 24/7 then broadband, is the best option for you. If your Internet use will be limited and you simply want to send and answer emails then dial up may also be an option. In all honesty broadband is not that much more expensive than dial up so I would strongly suggest you consider the faster Internet service for the best browsing experience.
