Install a printer
How do you generally install a LaserJet printer on a standalone computer?
Most printer manufacturers ship a setup CD for printer installation.
Others put a zip file containing the driver, UI, helper dlls and a inf file.
Vendors frequently release newer versions of their software in the download sections of their websites, which include defect fixes and workarounds for printer defects. So, if you are having trouble with the printer software, you may want to check vendor sites for a newer version of the software.
If it is a setup application, the easy to follow instructions lets you to install the driver easily. I have written a guide to installing printers following setup programs within my printer guides section.
If it is an archive comprising of several files, unpack the archive into a folder. The best thing to do is create a new folder on your desktop by right clicking, then selecting new folder, name it printer drivers. You can then move the folder to somewhere else on your hard drive when you are done with the install.
1) Go to “Printers and Faxes” Folder and click the “Add a printer” Printer Task.
A Pop-Up ‘Add Printer Wizard” Dialog pops up. Click the Next button.
7) Follow the remaining sheets providing intuitive choice for “whether to set the printer as default”, “sharing the printer” and “printing test page”.
You have installed the printer. Now you can print from any application.
