Gateway 610s Review

Model: Gateway 610S

Ever since Microsoft launched its new Windows XP Media Center, computer manufacturers race to building all-in-one media PCs. Here’s when Gateway joins in the race by introducing the wannabe 610S.

The wonderful Gateway 610S pumps every heart. It’s equipped with great features, such as

Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz Hyper-Threading processor, 256MB of Ram (Expandable to 2GB). A Huge 80GB hard drive for storing media files.

That’s not all! It comes with a 7 in 1 card reader as default specification. What’s worth to mention, is its brilliant 17” LCD monitor with built-in subwoofer speakers, located behind the monitor, which gives us a great entertainment experience that we have always wanted from a computer.

Supplied with all wireless controllers (mouse, keyboard and remote control), the Gateway 610S reduces the tangling-wires found on most traditional PCs. All slots and ports can be accessed at the four sides of the monitor, as well as the rear side.

I wonder why this 610S doesn’t come with Wi-Fi ready, and it looks like the only way to access the wireless network at your home is to get an additional wireless USB adapter.

For gaming and multimedia purposes, the 256MB Ram is decent. I would recommend having at least 512MB of Ram for smooth running of the PC.

We can’t always expect perfection, but Gateway has done well, at least in producing this great media PC. Now, there’s no better reason to stay at home with your family and friends, says Gateway.
