Brother HL 5150 review

The Brother HL-5150D 20ppm Auto-Duplex Laser Printer is a compact, fast, high resolution, Black and White Printer which can print on variety of paper sizes/media types and comes with duplex support.

The printer offers memory capability of 16MB upgradeable to 144MB, making it flexible for your printing demands, without having to replace the printer when needed to print heavily complex documents. USB2.0 and parallel ports come as a standard with the printer.

It comes with a 250 sheet Paper Tray and a 50 sheet multi-purpose tray. An Optional 250 sheet paper tray is also available. The paper size support range is competitive. User-Defined Paper Sizes can be created with a width range of 2.75"-8.5" and height range of 4.57"-16.0".

It comes with a toner with print yields of 3500 pages, and a drum unit that needs replacement after printing 20,000 pages demonstrating low usage cost.

Duplex functionality in the printer makes it an ideal candidate for office printing and ensuring effective paper usage. Select an option in the printer driver and the printer does it.

There is also MultiPage support by the driver with which you can squeeze up to 25 document pages on one side of a sheet. The booklet printing mode provides the user the ability to create booklets combining the functionality of the driver and printer, all at the choice of a selection in the printer driver.

The driver comes with halftone/grayscale printing, for printing images with gradient effects preserved. The "Toner Save Mode" with the MultiPage option provides an effective way of using the printer to take rough printouts.

The software also comes with a status monitor that keeps you informed of the printer status.
