Brother HL-5140 21ppm Laser Printer is a fast, high resolution, Black and White Printer, which can print on variety of paper sizes/media types and is worth the money spent. The cost is an ideal fit for anyone from home user to mid-business environment. The capabilities of the printer driver give the user an enriching experience. The resolutions supported are 300dpi, 600dpi, HQ1200 (2400 * 600 dpi). It has a speed of 21 ppm and comes with a memory of 16MB, upgradeable to 144MB, and the unit comes with USB2.0 connectivity. It comes with two input trays, manual tray and a lower Tray which can hold up to 250 sheets of paper. An Optional 250 sheet (LT-5000) can be attached. Output Bin can support a maximum of 150 sheets and the printed sheets are placed face-down. The paper size support range is competitive, unless you are looking to print small custom cards. User-Defined Paper Sizes can be created with a width range of 2.75"-8.5" and height range of 4.57"-16.0". Printer Drivers are available for windows flavors, MAC and Linux variants. There is also Multipage support by the driver with which you can squeeze up to 25 document pages on one side of sheet. The driver comes with halftone/grayscale printing, for printing images with gradient effects preserved. The "Toner Save Mode" with the Multipage option provides an effective way of using the printer to take rough printouts. The software also comes with a status monitor that keeps you informed of the printer status.
