Brother HL 5050 review

Brother HL-5050LT 17ppm Laser Printer with 2 Trays is a fast, high resolution, monochrome printer and can print on variety a of paper sizes/media types.

It comes with a 250 sheet tray and a 50 sheet Multipurpose Tray with an optional 250 sheet lower tray.

The resolutions supported are 300dpi, 600dpi, HQ1200 (2400 * 600 dpi). It comes with a memory of 16MB, upgradeable to 144MB, and with USB2.0 and parallel port connectivity as standard and optional network connectivity.

The paper size support range is competitive .User-Defined Paper sizes can be created with width range of 2.75"-8.5" and height range of 4.57"-14.0".

Manual duplex option is provided by the printer driver.

Printer Drivers are available for windows flavors, MAC and Linux variants. (http://www.brother.com)

There is also Multipage support by the driver with which you can squeeze up to 25 document pages on one side of a sheet, or put a page on 25 sheets of paper for creating posters.

The driver comes with halftone/grayscale printing for printing images with gradient effects to be preserved. The "Toner Save Mode" with the Multipage option provides an effective way of using the printer to make rough printouts.

Its cool looking 3 color backlit LCD display, which changes color helping recognize from a distance, what state the printer is. The control panel is easy to use with 2 buttons on it.
