Brother Hl 1850 review

The Brother HL-1850 19ppm Auto-Duplex Laser Printer is a fast, high resolution, monochrome printer and can print on a variety of paper sizes/media types.

A 600 sheet capacity each for 2 standard trays and an optional lower tray along with the duplex support.

Along with networking capabilities with an optional 10/100BT fast Ethernet connection, makes this a perfect choice for the office environment.

The Capabilities of the printer driver along with the inbuilt capability of the printer brings enhanced productivity.

The resolutions supported are 300dpi, 600dpi, HQ1200 (2400 * 600 dpi). It has a speed of 21 ppm and comes with a memory of 16MB, upgradeable to 144MB. The printer comes with USB1.1 and parallel port connectivity as standard.

It comes with two input trays, multi purpose tray (100 sheets) and a standard Tray (250 sheets) and an Optional (LT-500) tray, giving a maximum feed of 600 sheets of paper. The paper size support range is competitive .User-Defined Paper sizes can be created with width range of 2.75"-8.5" and height range of 4.57"-16.0".

Duplex functionality in the printer makes it an ideal candidate for office printing and ensuring effective paper usage. Select an option in the printer driver and the printer does it for paper sizes A4, Letter and Legal.

There is also MultiPage support by the driver with which you can squeeze up to 25 document pages on one side of sheet, or put a page on 25 sheets of paper for creating a poster. The booklet printing mode provides the user with the ability to create booklets combining the functionality of the driver and the printer, all at the choice of a selection in the printer driver.

The driver comes with grayscale printing. The "Toner Save Mode" with the MultiPage option provides an effective way of using the printer to take rough printouts.

Its cool looking 3 color backlit LCD display, which changes color helps recognize from a distance, what state the printer is. The control panel is easy to use with 7 buttons on it. A useful feature in the office environment is secure printing, printing happens only after the key associated by the user with the print job is keyed in at the printer.

The Email notification feature can make printer management so easy; email will get sent automatically to people in charge of maintaining the printer.
