ALU - Arithmetic Logic Unit
The ALU is mentioned in some of our articles regarding processors. It is the internal part of the processor, which is the mathematical calculator of the processor.
The ALU performs basic calculations such as adding and multiplying binary values.
The algorithms are stored permanently in the ALU of the processor.
All processors contain an ALU of some format and this is why the processor is often referred to as the brain of the computer.
