Windows 2000 guide

Windows 2000 guide

Another multitasking 32 bit operating system. This operating systems has all the best features for home users, along with all those from Windows 98. Windows 2000 has the manageability and high security like Windows NT.

Safeguards have been designed to prevent important files and device drivers from being coped over. As well as this, the operating system can run more applications than any previous operating system, and provides support for a lot more hardware. USB is not an issue with windows 2k and it is fully supported, unlike Windows NT.

Windows 2000 is around 20 percent faster than previous operating systems, however you will need a decent computer to be able to see the difference. There are many new networking options within this operating system, such as Internet connection sharing that allows multiple computers to connect to the Internet from one connection.

You can view thumbnails of what you are about to open, which can be quite handy if you forget what some thing is. There is a hibernate mode that allows you o set your monitor or even pc to switch off at a certain time. Its pretty nifty, however I don’t really see the point of it and have personally never used it.

Windows 2000 has been largely replaced by windows XP, which I will discuss next.
