Toshiba Portege 3500 review

Model

Toshiba Portege 3500

When Microsoft first introduced the tablet PC, notebook manufacturers raced to produce their very own Tablet PC. Reputable ones are Toshiba, NEC, Compaq, Acer and so on. Toshiba has produced its one-of-a-kind convertible Tablet PC, and that’s the Portege 3500.

The Portege 3500 is a convertible Tablet PC, which means it can not only be used as an ordinary notebook, but you can twist its LCD screen, and turn it to a full-featured Tablet PC, like the one from Acer’s C Series.

The Intel Pentium III 1.33GHz installed in it may not be the fastest processor, but it generates less heat and offers a better battery life. Toshiba may want to consider replacing it to the new Pentium-M processor, just my two cents worth. It also comes with 256MB of PC133 SDRAM memory and a large 40GB hard drive.

With a 16MB of 128-bit Trident CyberALADDIN-T UMA integrated graphics controller, it is a wise approach since Tablet PC requires better graphic support for handwriting recognition and stylus input. The 12” Poly Silicon AMD with touch screen is sensitive, and the stylus pen works fine.

You get the most out of Portege 3500. Wireless networking, Ethernet and modem supports are all integrated in it, allowing connecting to the network and Internet with many options.

The Portege 3500 is a complete system for all. It’s great for presentations, be it for business purpose or school assignments, and it will sure astonish everyone who looks at it.
