Shuttle SS51G review
Model
Shuttle SS51G
Shuttle is one of the earliest companies that produce barebone and small form factor (SFF) PCs. The Shuttle SS51G is an example on just how well built Shuttle’s products are.
This SFF supports Intel processors with its own motherboard using SiS651 chipset. You can get an integrated VGA card in the barebone itself that offers smooth running of older games and multimedia programs.
The SS51G comes with two memory slots for maximum memory capacity. Since the graphic support is integrated, you can select how much memory you want to share the graphic support with its main memory. Integrated graphics are never going to give you the best performance, however for the average user they work well.
Other standard features that this barebone offers as well are IEEE port, integrated sound support and built-in Ethernet. It offers a 5.25” bay for optical drive installation, 3.5” for floppy drive and a space for hard drive too.
The body of SS51G is in aluminum; while its front face cover is transparent blue. Although the casing is small, you don’t have to worry of about the heat and air ventilation problem, as it is implemented with Heat-Pipe Cooling Technology.
On the front side of the chassis, you will be getting a few useful ports. For example, SPDIF port, Line Out port, Lineout port, two USB ports and an IEEE port.
This is a great barebone that money can buy. It’s small, sleek and portable too. Shuttle has been building mini PCs for years, and that’s why its quality is assured, and I recommend this wholeheartedly for the average user.
