Plug and play term explained
Plug and play – Plug and play
Plug and play was introduced By Intel and Microsoft and is used to facilitate the installation of hardware.
Plug and play hardware is easy to install, you simply plug in the new hardware, windows will recognise that there is new hardware and then ask for the device drivers.
With windows XP, it often installs the drivers and configures the hardware itself. Of course Windows XP does not have all device drivers, so there will be cases where you will need to insert a disk.
If you want the hardware to run at its best, it is recommended that you use the most updated device drivers for your hardware. You will be able to stay updated with these from the manufactures website. Normally new drivers are made to support new enhanced features.
