NTFS term explained

NTFS – New Technology File System

NTFS is the newly developed file system for NT operating systems. Windows XP also supports it.

This special type of file system uses a master table to analyse, locate, and store files within a NTFS file system volume.

Important data on this file system is duplicated, resulting in a more stable operating system.

With the NTFS file system, you can protect and password certain files. So, if you have important files, this added extra security for the user. You can even protect entire folders with hundreds of files stored within the folder.
