The computer modem is a hardware device that connects a computer to a network of computers, such as the Internet. I have had had many types of modems over the years, and they now come in many forms.

There are a few popular modems, which have been used over the years.

The internal PCI modem is one of these, which can be a separate card, or attached to the main motherboard. As well as this modem, there is the external modem, which uses a certain connection, such as USB.

Today, ADSL and cable has become very popular for high speed Internet access. These types of modems are external, and normally use a USB or Ethernet connection.
