This term is used to describe a measurement in computers. This term refers to storage capacity; usually in system ram or hard drive form.

The threshold in hard drives is using Gigabytes now, and system memory is hitting this amount also.

One megabyte is the same as 1024 kilobytes, so if you have a computer system that has 2 megabytes, that would be 2048 kilobytes.

When people talk about megabytes, they are normally referring to the system memory, known as RAM.
