ISDN – Integrated services digital network

This type of connection allows data and voice transfer on the same line. ISDN is normally found in large offices that use switchboards. This connection offers faster data transfer than the normal analogue line.

ISDN will not give you the sort of speed you can expect from ADSL or cable, however it does use a digital interface and offers a slightly higher speed than the 56k connection.

You can normally expect a connection of around 128k. IF you would like to know what your download rates would be, you can expect speeds of around 8kb per second.

ISDN has become ruled out due to the large distribution of cable and ADSL.
