IBM ThinkPad G40

The IBM ThinkPad G40 is likely to be one of IBM’s most affordable notebooks, yet offers fantastic performance combining the power and user-friendliness of it.

Although G40 is classed as a desktop replacement, it is not billed as expensive as others are.

Instead, with its affordable price tag, it does not lose power to generating wonderful user experience.

The ThinkPad G40 uses Intel Celeron 2.2GHz as its central unit processor, and built-in with 128MB of DDR266 (PC2100) memory. The unit also comes with a 20GB hard drive and a 24x CD-Rom.

Measuring 13” x 2” x 12.1” in width, height and depth respectively, the G40’s 15” XGA screen provides crisp images and high resolutions. Thanks to the integrated Intel Extreme Graphics with 8MB of video memory that helps boosting its graphics acceleration speed.

Like its other ThinkPad siblings, G40 is built with a red track point in the middle of the keyboard. For those who have been using track pad, this may be a drawback. But take note that you can always add a mouse by connecting it to the PS/2 or USB port.

G40 runs on Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition. It provides blistering speed and portability, without sacrificing the performance. It is a definite buy if you are looking for an affordable desktop replacement that is reliable.
