Hub term explained

Hub – Network Hub

The hub is a networking device or component that allows many computers to connect to it which results in the networking of computers.

You can network this way in the home, however a cable cross is probably easier for two computers.

If you have multiple computers a hub is the way most people do it when it comes to networking.

Passive hub allows the date to run through it, where as a manageable hub lets the user monitor and configure the hubs ports manually.
