The hardware term is used to describe parts in your computer. This is known as computer hardware. Many external devices are described as hardware devices also.

An example can be printers, scanners and external modems, these are all classed as computer hardware.

The printer and scanner are mostly known as computer peripherals, however lots of people still say they are classed as computer hardware. I agree with them as they are extra components to your computer, which can help in performing additional functions, such as printing and scanning.
