Graphics Card term explained

Graphics Card - Video Card

The graphics card is an internal hardware component, which is needed by the computer monitor to display the output on your computer screen.

Graphics cards have become a popular hardware component for the computer, and companies produce them in mass quantities.

There are 2 types of cards, cards that are built in to your main board, and separate cards, which must be installed via a slot on your computers motherboard. The most popular one today is The AGP slot allowing faster graphics and improved performance on high-end software and computer games. You can still buy cards for the PCI slot, however this is becoming extinct due to the faster improved AGP slot.

A good graphics card can have 128-ddr memory integrated on the card and boast some impressive speeds.

The cards that come built on the motherboard lack the performance of the external cards and are geared towards budget computers offering a cheaper option for people.
