Gigabyte term explained

Gigabyte – Gigabyte

Gigabyte is mostly referred to in hard drives. For example an average hard drive can store around 40 Gigabytes of information.

1 Gigabyte equals just over 1000 megabytes; system memory is now in this threshold on many home computers.

If you have a hard drive with 20 Gigabyte storage capacity, this equals to almost 21000 megabytes of storage capacity, as you can see hard drives in the 120 Gigabyte capacity and higher, can store an enormous amount of data.
