GHZ term explained

GHZ – Gigahertz

GHZ is the term used on my site explaining the speed of processors. It refers to 1 billion cycles per second; processors are measured in this way in terms of speed. They started off with MHZ, however as technology is advancing rapidly we are now measuring in the GHZ threshold.

1 GHZ equals 1000 MHZ, so 2000 MHZ would be 2 GHZs, which would result in 2billion cycles per second.

Processors are running at around 3 GHz now and this is expected to double over the next few years. It will be interesting to see how fast and far they push the home computer.
