EIDE term explained

EIDE - Enhanced Integrated Drive Electronics

EIDE is an interface standard designed by a company called western digital. EIDE controllers have been used in home computers on a wide basis since the early 1990s.

The EIDE standard surpassed the IDE standard in terms of data transfer speed.

Another company which offers even faster data transfer rate has introduced fast ATA. EIDE is used on CD ROMS and hard drives mainly and uses cables to control the devices within the computer.
