Desktop term explained

Desktop – Windows desktop

The desktop is what you see when you first log in to windows, it is where the icons such as, my computer and the recycle bin are seen. In the desktop area, you have the system tray where the clock and start-up programs can be located.

If you look at the bottom right of your computer you will see what I am discussing.

I have programs such as Msn messenger and over clocking software located here for easy access.

The desktop in my opinion is a wonderful invention. With the operating system having a graphical user interface, people from all over the globe can get involved with computers and the Internet. You don’t need to know command lines or any programming to use windows today, however a basic understanding of dos may be beneficial to you.
