DOS - Disk Operating System

This is an operating system that uses command lines to operate. DOS establishes and utilizes the disk drives in your computer.

Microsoft designed their own version of DOS and named it Microsoft DOS.




The windows operating system were largely based on DOS, and were shipped with MS DOS as part of the windows package.


DOS has now become outdated because of its limited functions and the fact it does not have a GUI making things complicated for the new computer user.

Windows XP does not have DOS and the many new windows operating systems to come will not use DOS anymore as we evolve further in to the NTFS file system.
