DLL term explained

DLL - Dynamic Link Library

DLL is a type of file, which offers commands that other programs, can share. If you have a program and you accidentally delete a dll, the program may not work anymore.

The windows operating system has hundreds of dll files, which other programs access to function correctly.

An example can be the spool dll, which controls the printing functions within windows.

If dll files become corrupt your computer will likely crash, therefore these files within windows are very important and should not be tampered with unless you are an experienced computer user, even then you should still be careful.

DLL files can easily be updated from the Internet and you can even download certain dll files if need be, to get things going again.
