Cybertron AMD Sempron 2400+ Desktop PC review
The Cyberton AMD Sempron 2400+ Desktop PC comes with the basic user in mind. With the AMD Sempron 2400+ processor, clocking at around 1.66GHz, and 256 MB RAM, it provides a computer capable of completing basic tasks such as word processing or spreadsheet modeling.
In addition, it comes with the basics ports for video, audio, and networking. Of course, it also comes with serial and parallel ports. There are also 2 USB ports on the front of the case, near the base. A 40 GB hard drive is also provided, giving enough space to store anything a basic user would need. A CD-RW drive is also provided, allowing you to burn your own CDs.
The computer comes with no monitor, but a keyboard, mouse, and 2-speaker set – all in black. The tower itself is even black, which goes great in an office or home environment (especially with a black monitor). It even looks fairly nice compared to many plain, white cases!
The only real issue with this computer is memory. 256 MB RAM is not enough for Windows XP Home to function at optimal levels. I would say 512 MB should be the bare minimum since Windows XP is a great operating system, simply a memory hog as well. With another 256 MB RAM, this computer system would be a killer PC. Memory is cheap and would not be terribly expensive to upgrade for this machine.
For only $459.99, the Cybertron really is a great buy for the casual user. If you are mostly using word processing, spreadsheet modeling, or even database functions, the Cybertron can easily handle your tasks. This computer also makes a great computer for someone going off to college, or, somewhere else that would require many word processing or even Internet tasks.
