Considering a home computer?

Before you purchase a computer, whether it is for the first time, or you need a new computer to replace the current snail. There are some things to consider before you rush off to a shop or buy online without some initial thought.

First of all there are 2 main popular computers, the home pc and the Apple Mac.

This site focuses on the pc therefore I am going to discuss this kind of computer. In the future I may write a guide on the Apple Mac but not until I have used one myself and have a thorough understanding of this machine.

Before buying a computer you need to ask yourself, what am I going to be using this computer for? This can range from many answers such as, writing papers for class work, surfing the Internet, or watching movies and playing games.

Once you have decided what the main use for your computer will be, you need to have an idea about the minimum requirements of the PC. If you were buying a computer to write documents and print them off, depending on the software, you could get away with a Pentium 2 with 64 Meg. This is a very dated computer by today’s standards but it would be more than enough for that simple task.

If you intend to go online and view movies and participate in online activities, you are going to need a high-end system with a lot more memory and some kind of modem or network card.
