Connect3D Radeon 9200se review
Connect3D Radeon 9200se
From the Radeon family comes a low-end $50 graphics card that contends with the XFX 5200 FX. I found this card to be just as fast. The RAMDAC runs a little faster (400MHz) than the XFX card, but other than that, the only noticeable difference was the added composite TV port.
The Hydravision software that comes with this card makes it a very handy instrument. If you are wanting to work in a multi-monitor environment, the software helps you setup your desktop on the different monitors for the most efficient layout.
This card also supports DirectX9, but I wasn’t impressed with it’s 2D image quality like I was with the XFX 5200 FX. If gaming isn’t your goal though, you’re looking at a decent low-end video card for your PC. Remember too, the passive cooling method (no fan) means quiet operation.
Radeon has also been known to use power (the DC kind) so make sure your power supply is in the 350-400Watt range.
Installation is smooth, and the card is stable during operation. Again, if you’re talking about your basic home/office PC, with occasional games, this card would be a cheap upgrade for most systems. If your computer uses on-board video, I highly recommend that you upgrade, even if it’s just one of these low-end cards.
