CMOS term explained
CMOS - Complimentary Metal Oxide Semiconductor
CMOS is a chip that stores information about your pc, such as the time, the date your computer configuration. This chip uses little power consumption and is used in thousands of home computers today. A very small battery backs up the CMOS. This saves the information when your computer is switched off.
This information is accessed by your computer BIOS when the computer first boots up. The information stored can be changed here through entering the computer bios, which is also known as your computer setup. Once you have made any desired changes you can then save to the CMOS memory.
Some times you may need to enter the BIOS to make changes, to get some printers working and other devices. You may have to change things like power management and USB settings. I may write an article on this in the future if I feel it will be beneficial at the time.
